maxon medical is a business division within maxon motor ag. Headquartered in Sachseln, Switzerland, maxon motor ag employs more than 1,600 people worldwide.
As the name suggests, maxon medical aims to cater specifically for the needs and wishes of the medical industry. The sector's quality and service requirements are high and are rising all the time. Expanded quality systems, traceability and release procedures are just a number of terms that are associated with medical technology.
To be able to cater for these special requirements, a new business division was set up using existing microtechnology expertise. The new Technology Center III which was opened in 2005 has provided improved facilities for production, with microdrives now produced in clean room conditions.
The initial phase involves producing drive systems and components to a diameter of less than 10mm. In addition to the existing ISO standards, maxon medical is also newly certified according to ISO 13485. A second phase will include the production of larger drive systems (10mm and greater) for medical applications.
